Back home, kind of…

Well here we are, it’s over: the extreme heat with temperatures above 30°C, sunstroke and sandy rain are over. Back home! Well, almost, I left home 6 to 7 weeks ago, and it was like a huge working holiday! All went rather well for us: 3 races and three times in the points. Mission accomplished. Our car is stable and is the 4th force in the 2007 paddock. A large slice of Ferrari, a good amount of McLaren, a pinch of BMW and you cover the whole thing with a sprinkle of Toyota…

Seriously though, I think that we are getting better and it is going well, but there is still a lot of work in prospect. While returning from Bahrain, I headed over to Italy for two days of aero testing. It is necessary to continue to collect more data, a big part of off-track work. I spent two days stabilizing speed: 200, 240, 280, 300, 320. I checked certain values of our wings and other new parts. But, this is only one small part of the puzzle that is F1 because these tests are done only in straight line. It will be necessary to have a god correlation between these data and the ones I’ll have on the track. Then let’s go to Vallelunga! It will be a question of checking the new suspension. We have a new solution, which should be very effective, but there are still many questions and are therefore we are not yet ready to use it in race conditions. It will be necessary to stress the R&D, but it is rather interesting.

The Bahrain race went better than our winter test there; we have made a big step since the beginning of the year. It is good for the troop’s morale! Jarno had a superb race, he fought from beginning to end and made passes on both Renaults. Simply quite perfect! For Ralf, it was clearly harder…

So, another two points and everyone is satisfied with this result. Now it’s time to tackle the European rounds, which will be, I think, even better than we thought they would at this beginning of the championship. Take note, three races three different winners, so it will be hard to make more undecided…

By for now
Have fun!
